First Frost yesterday....

The mandevilla has put on a continuous show from the time I bought it in the late spring, but being tropical, it will not tolerate any frost. So you just buy a new one each year.
End of the road, too, for the morning glories.

Early September garden visitors and sunset.

Scroll down to read the captions, they will not show up when you click on a picture to enlarge it, and get the slide show. In slide show, click the image to go to next one, or scroll throught them. I have tried to identify these 'bugs', might as well learn their names if I'm going to take their pictures.

Mandevilla with flash at dusk. This picture is unedited, except to add my signature.

I don't know the species name of these lillium , but they are literally a beehive of activity every summer. Bloom in late August, last quite a while, and attract a wide variety of bees, wasps, and beetles, etc. This shot taken at dusk with flash.
After the rain, a little colorful ending of the day.

Shower gifts

After the showers, a few mushrooms appear, like little umbrellas for the small creatures of the yard.

gifts of the showers
bee? wasp? Never know what to call these tiny workers.
Love the transparency of the wings.

Friday morning images

A little fog along the Kentucky River this morning.
Tweaked a bit with 'watercolor effect'.
My big bean crop from one pot with two plants in it. Well, there's more than this!
The very first blossom to open, on the white alliums.
 Allysum and celosia.

 Surprise Lilies (Naked Ladies).
Rose of Sharon, color manipulated.

Orange and yellows and six-leg fellows

Sole Survivor. After a very hot and dry June and early July, this one last daylily stands out against the neighbor's black iron fence.  Yesterday's rain was so very welcome! Everything seems refreshed today.
A trumpet vine across the street provides lunch for a bunch of big, scurrying ants.
